Overview of this location
Horai Bridge in Shimada, a timber footbridge 897.4 metres long across the Oi and recognised by Guinness as the longest wooden pedestrian bridge in the world. Built in the Meiji era so that tea growers could reach the Makinohara plateau, it is still in daily use.
