The campsite on the north shore of Lake Motosu, facing Fuji straight across the water — almost exactly the composition of Okada Koyo's photograph behind the 1,000-yen note. Known as the setting of episode 1, and the morning Fuji seen from the gravel pitches at the waterline is the founding image of the whole series.

The reception building of the lakeside campsite where the whole series begins. It doubles as a shop selling the curry noodles from episode 1, camp goods and a wall of series merchandise, and the staff have welcomed pilgrims since the first broadcast.
