The Nakamise approach to Sensoji, some 250 metres from the Kaminarimon to the Hozomon, lined with close to ninety shops. It is reckoned among the oldest shopping streets in Japan, and a few of its businesses date from the Edo period.
In 1865, Kaminarimon Gate was destroyed by fire. It remained unrebuilt for a long time afterward, but reconstruction was finally realized in 1960 through a donation by Konosuke Matsushita, founder of Matsushita Electric.
For this reason, Kaminarimon Gate is absent from this scene in the anime.
