Near a bicycle shop in the Hanazono district. Kyoto's flat, gridded centre made the bicycle the default way to get around, and independent shops that still do repairs survive in every neighbourhood. This is the sort of place where waiting for a puncture to be fixed turns into a conversation on the pavement.
