The beach at Mito in Uchiura. Awashima floats directly offshore and the water in the inlet barely raises a wave. It opens for swimming in summer; the rest of the year it belongs to walkers and anglers. The inns stand at your back, and on clear days Mt Fuji shows above the head of the bay.
