Overview of this location
The entrance to a Meiji-founded inn on the Mito seafront in Uchiura. The wooden frontage is quiet and unshowy, and directly across the narrow road lie the beach and the water with Awashima in view. Dazai Osamu stayed here in 1948, writing part of The Setting Sun.

AddYasudaya Ryokan

The Meiji-era inn on the Mito seafront that served as the model for Chika's family home. It embraces its role — themed rooms, displays and messages from fans fill the building — while remaining a working ryokan with seafood dinners and sea-view baths. Author Dazai Osamu also stayed here in 1948; his room is preserved.
