One of the shopping streets making up central Oarai, named directly after the Higekama district it runs through. Restaurants and retailers alternate with shuttered frontages, in the pattern familiar from small-town shopping streets everywhere. Toward evening, the crowd concentrates in front of the fishmonger and the prepared-food shop.
