Overview of this location
A hill of 112 metres turned entirely into a park. In the Onin War it was the strongpoint held by the western army — whose commander gave the surrounding district the name Nishijin, the western camp. From the summit the city and the Higashiyama range open out, and the cherry blossom draws crowds in spring.
