Overview of this location
The three-storey pavilion under gold leaf, mirrored in Kyoko-chi pond. Each level uses a different architectural style, stacked from shinden through samurai residence to Zen. The present building dates from 1955, rebuilt after arson destroyed the original in 1950; the gold leaf was renewed in 1987.
