Overview of this location
The main shrine buildings at Kitano Tenmangu, built in 1607 at the order of Toyotomi Hideyori. The main hall and worship hall are joined by a stone-floored chamber in the yatsumune style, and the ensemble is designated a National Treasure. Momoyama-period carving and colour survive — look up under the eaves.
