Overview of this location
The plaza in front of the Miyako Messe hall in Okazaki. It is named for Gottfried Wagener, the German chemist who guided the modernisation of Kyoto's industries in the Meiji era, and a monument to him stands here. Museums and Heian Shrine surround it at the heart of the Okazaki cultural zone.
