Overview of this location
A station on the Eizan Electric Railway's main line. As the name says, it is the stop for Shugakuin Rikyu, the imperial villa laid out by the retired Emperor Go-Mizunoo. The villa is run by the Imperial Household Agency and visits must be booked in advance, but its vast gardens at the foot of Mount Hiei repay the paperwork.
