Girls und Panzer: The Complete Ooarai Walking Guide
Starting from Oarai Station at 10:00 AM, this all-walking route visits all 23 filming locations in the immediate Oarai Station area and loops back to the station — about 2 hours 24 minutes in total, covering roughly 4.3 km (2.7 mi) on foot.
The numbering on the map (01–23) matches the scene titles below. This guide has been curated, to include only those within roughly a 20-minute walk (about 1.1 km / 0.7 mi) of Oarai Station.
Many of the spots featured are working shops or private homes, and since years have passed since filming, the appearance or business status of some locations may have changed. Please follow local traffic rules and be considerate of residents and shop owners while visiting.
10:00 — Oarai Station (Start)
This guide starts Oarai Station. Begin with the four scenes found in and around the station itself.
01. Oarai Station Platform
As the station of the Oarai Kashima Line, this platform appears whenever trains arrive or depart in the series — the natural starting point for this pilgrimage.
02. Oarai Station Passageway
Characters are shown passing through here on screen, and the layout of the ceiling and pillars remains largely unchanged from how it looks in the anime.
03. Oarai Station Convenience Store
The convenience store inside the station, selling drinks, Oarai souvenirs, and railway goods. A handy spot to take a short breather partway through your walk.
04. Oarai Station Dolphin Statue
The dolphin statue on the plaza in front of the station. It doubles as the station's symbol, and appears repeatedly in the background of scenes throughout the show.

From the dolphin statue in front of the station, head south along the main street. Cross one signal — about a 2-minute walk.
05. Beauty Salon Care Oarai
The storefront of a beauty salon a few minutes' walk from the station, along the main street leading south. It appears as an everyday backdrop in the series.

Continue straight south along the same street from the beauty salon. About a 3-minute walk.
06. Near Iris
A stretch further south along the same street, lined with local shops and houses.

07. Near ENEOS Oarai
A gas station along the station-front street. It's an operating business, so please view it from the street rather than entering the forecourt. It also shows up as part of the everyday townscape whenever characters move through this part of Oarai.

At the intersection by the ENEOS station, turn left (northeast) into a narrower street. About a 5-minute walk brings you to Sakai-Ya, and Hiigama Shopping Street begins just a minute further on — the two sit right next to each other, so take them in together.

A local shop along the shopping street.
09. Hiigama Shopping Street
An old-fashioned shopping street in central Oarai, lined with small, independently run shops — a good example of the town's retro, homely atmosphere. The area has seen some redevelopment, though, so it may look a little different from how it appears on screen.

Once through Hiigama Shopping Street, continue south. You'll start to sense the sea as you go — about a 6-minute walk to Marine Tower South Intersection.
10. Marine Tower South Intersection
The intersection just south of Oarai Marine Tower. From here the view opens up considerably and the sea air becomes noticeable as you enter the coastal area.
10:59 — Around Oarai Marine Tower (4 scenes clustered together)
From the intersection, head northeast for about 3 minutes to reach the cluster of Oarai Maiwai Market, Oarai Marine Tower, and Oarai Seaside Station (formerly the Resort Outlet). All four scenes sit within a 1–2 minute walk of each other, so take your time exploring the area together (allow around 20 minutes in total).
11. In front of Oarai Maiwai Market
The front of a direct-sales market for Oarai seafood and local specialties. It closed for a period at one point, but has since reopened after renewal and is back in business selling fresh seafood and souvenirs.
12. Oarai Marine Tower
A 197-foot (60 m) observation tower. The 3rd-floor observation deck offers sweeping views of the Pacific Ocean and Oarai Port — the striking panorama also appears in the anime, and the tower remains open today as one of Oarai's best-known landmarks.
13. Oarai Resort Outlet 2nd Floor
Known as 'Oarai Resort Outlet' at the time the anime was made, this building was renamed 'Oarai Seaside Station' in 2017 and downsized considerably — most of the shops shown in the anime are no longer there, so it's worth keeping that in mind before you visit.
14. Oarai Seaside Station
A commercial building next to Marine Tower. The floor here, from its days as Oarai Resort Outlet, is shown from above in a shot looking down from the tower's observation deck.

Leave the facility area and head north. About a 4-minute walk to Yukkura Kenkokan North Intersection.
15. Yukkura Kenkokan North Intersection
The intersection just north of Yukkura Kenkokan, a local day-use hot spring facility. It marks the junction where the coastal area meets the road into the shopping district.

From the intersection, backtrack slightly to the west. About a 3-minute walk to In front of Yoshimoto.
16. In front of Yoshimoto
The front of a clothing shop on the shopping street, in a row of old-fashioned, independently run stores. As a small, family-run shop it may no longer be in business — this is a residential street, so please keep your visit low-key.

Turn east from Yoshimoto and head into the heart of the shopping street. About a 4-minute walk to Uochu.
17. Uochu
A fishmonger on the shopping street, selling fish landed at Oarai's port. It makes a quiet, understated appearance in one of the show's everyday scenes.

About a 1-minute walk east from Uochu brings you to a narrow back alley.
18. Back Alley
A narrow back alley just behind the main shopping street, quieter than the street out front and close to people's homes — please don't step onto private property, and keep noise down out of respect for residents.
11:45 — Shopping street (3 scenes in a row)
Come out of the alley and head north — about a 2-minute walk to Nagamachi Shopping Street. From there, Soba Daishin and Torimachi Shopping Street follow one after another just 1–2 minutes apart, so you can take them in as you walk.
19. Nagamachi Shopping Street
One of the shopping streets running east from Oarai Station, lined with long-established shops.
20. Soba Daishin
A long-established soba noodle restaurant on the shopping street. It appears briefly as characters pass by, and makes for a convenient stop for a meal break.
21. Torimachi Shopping Street
The shopping street continuing on from Nagamachi Shopping Street. It still preserves the old-fashioned townscape typical of central Oarai.

About a 1-minute walk further east from Torimachi Shopping Street, at the eastern end of the shopping district, is Ryokan Sakanaya Honten.
22. Ryokan Sakanaya Honten
A long-established ryokan (Japanese inn) near the eastern end of the shopping street, also known for its seafood cuisine.

Turn south from in front of the ryokan and walk about 5 minutes. Bunka Center Intersection is the farthest point from the station on this entire route.
23. Bunka Center Intersection
The intersection in front of the Oarai Town Cultural Center. This is the farthest point from the station on this route — from here, the walk turns back toward the station.
12:24 — Oarai Station (Goal)
From Bunka Center Intersection, retrace your steps west back toward the station — about a 15-minute walk. Once you're back at the dolphin statue in front of Oarai Station, this walking course is complete. Well done!

This route takes about 2 hours 24 minutes and covers roughly 4.3 km (2.7 mi) on foot. Food, drink, and restrooms are available inside Oarai Station, around the shopping street area, and near Oarai Seaside Station. Pace yourself and stay hydrated (or bundled up) depending on the season.
